Ello, ello La Belle France ......

Left Aalborg at 12 this morning.... into Avignon at 11 p.m! What a day!    Not only did we have a bomb scare at CDG..... I know yoou won't believe me but t'is true and I would never tell a lie! Not only was there that... but we were also fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of extreme French hospitality and understanding and compassion... yes have had a fine day.............. We discovered that it is not possible to get a seat on the train if you have a Rail Pass and have failed to book a seat... sounds reasonable? Yes BUT... you can have a second class seat on the train with a reservation and you must pay 80 Eu otherwise there are no seats until Sunday but you can go today on a seat that is not there if you pay.. no the rail pass First class does not count........ WHAT? I sent in the big guns and the red headed lady spoke gently to the person wielding the power ( behind the desk) But she was not to be persuaded and might I say that it sounded like Telstra..... well , if you don't like it you will not go to Avignon today as I won't give you a ticket!!!!!!! Or , like Telstra, we will cut off the phone!!!!!
Red headed strong woman determined to catch that train
IN true fighting style , we capitulated........ we had to get to Avignon today as we had a hotel and tomorrow we pick up the car and are due in Uzes.......... we were diminished ...... THEN the soldiers came.... strong fighting men of France......... Allons enfants etc.... le jour de gloire and so on............ gendarmes and security lovingly blowing whistles and a disembodied voice shrieking over the PA.. had no idea what she was saying but the muscle was moving us out out out of the station... packs of people surged to the outside...... Le BOMBE! What is it about France that she must always provide me with unwanted excitement......... Yes there was a bomb scare! Some bright spark had left a red suitcase unattended and it was thought to be about to explode( which it didn't) So the hordes surged back in after some time spent contemplating the possibilities..............

So.. anyway....... we did catch the train to Avignon and we are here... it is 21 deg and it is midnight.............. and we are staying in this very very old hotel on the third floor and there is not lift! It is right in the centre of the old city.... Hotel de Garlande. Tomorrow we dance sur le pont
